Paleoclimatology

Paleoclimatology is the study of Earth’s past climate. Because there is no way to directly measure past climates, paleoclimatology relies on proxy measurements to aid reconstructions of historical conditions. Such measurements can include isotopic signature analysis—for example of δ18O and δ17O. These analyses take advantage of how variations in climatic conditions differentially affect isotopic abundance to reveal factors such as past temperatures or precipitation levels. Isotopic signature data can be gleaned from historical water samples, such as ice cores, or in certain organism remains, such as seashells.

Combustion Module

The Combustion Module, designed for Picarro by Costech (a leader in combustion systems), combusts solid samples as small as 250mg C to release CO2 gas. The Combustion Module is connected to a Picarro isotopic analyzer via the Picarro Caddy (A2100) or the Picarro Liaison™ Universal Interface (A0301) for high-precision carbon isotope (13C) measurements from carbon dioxide.
A0201

AutoMate FX

When a Picarro δ13C-CO2 analyzer is coupled with an Automate FX sample preparation device, the system provides δ13C measurements of the dissolved inorganic carbon in water samples or δ13C in solid carbonate samples. The Automate FX adds phosphoric acid to the samples to liberate CO2, which flows to the Picarro for δ13C-CO2 analysis.

Aurora OI 1030W TOC Analyzer

Significantly expand sample range and increase throughput with the Aurora 1030W TOC Analyzer, an instrument specifically designed for analyzing organic contamination levels in aqueous samples by the heated persulfate wet oxidation technique.
