The stable isotopes of oxygen (δ18O) and hydrogen (δD) are powerful tracers of the origin and evolution of liquid, solid and vapor phase water. They are used by scientists and researchers in medicine, food adulteration, hydrology, ocean science, paleoclimatology, forensics and many others. Water vapor is the most abundant greenhouse gas, that despite its non-anthropogenic origins, plans an important role in the evolution of past, present and future climate.
